Gordon D. Jumper is the Village President (also referred to as the "Mayor"). He is the Chief Executive Officer of the Village of South Jacksonville, Illinois. The Village President performs all of the duties prescribed by law, including municipal ordinances, and is required to see that the laws and ordinances are faithfully executed.  The Village President gives the council information concerning the affairs of the Village and is elected to a four year term. Mayor Jumper's current term expires in 2009.

In the Village of South Jacksonville, six Trustees (also known as the "corporate authorities") form the legislative body.  The Trustees are elected from the Village at large to serve a four year term.  The Village Board of Trustees is the repository of all municipal powers which have not been specifically delegated to some other office or board of the municipality. The Village Trustees currently serving on the Board of Trustees are:
